What is the Adopt-a-Drain program? It is through the Center for Global Environmental Education (CGEE) at Hamline University. This is an expansion of the currently active programs in St. Cloud and Waite Park. Any resident within the watershed is able to "adopt" storm drains by agreeing to clean around and on top of the grate. The benefits of this program include, but are not limited to, improved water quality in local lakes and rivers, improved stormwater infrastructure performance, educational opportunities, and community engagement. Click here to view the program's website. When you sign up, you can even give your drain a fun name and make it however ridiculous you want, such as ‘Singing in the Drain’ or ‘Purple Drain!’
